Mr. Thomas is a Managing Director and Associate General Counsel (Private Funds) in the Ares Legal Department. Prior to joining Ares in 2015, he was a Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Energy Investors Funds. Previously, Mr. Thomas was a Vice President and Counsel at State Street Corporation. In addition, he was an Associate at Bingham McCutchen LLP. Mr. Thomas holds a B.A. from Syracuse University in Policy Studies and Economics and an M.P.A. from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. In addition, he holds a J.D. from Georgetown University.
