Mr. Gilbert is a Partner and Head of Investor Strategy & Solutions in the Ares Global Client Solutions Group, where he focuses on client investment strategies, cross platform product solutions and consultant relations. Additionally, Mr. Gilbert serves on the Ares Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council. Prior to joining Ares in 2017, Mr. Gilbert was a Managing Director at Cambridge Associates LLC and co-chairman of the firm's Credit Investment Committee. He developed manager research and strategy across a broad range of sectors including leveraged finance, structured credit and distressed securities. He also implemented investment programs for institutional clients in a variety of alternative asset categories including hedge funds, private credit and long-only managers. Previously, he served as a Managing Partner at Ironside Capital Group and as a Managing Director at private investment affiliates of Manulife Financial Corporation. In addition, he was a corporate banking executive at Citizens Financial Group, the U.S. banking arm of The Royal Bank of Scotland at that time, including four years as President and Chief Executive Officer of the bank's asset finance and leasing company. Mr. Gilbert has been active in many community and civic organizations, including the Boston Children's Museum where he was a trustee, a member of the Finance and Investment Committee and chairman of the Governance Committee. He holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University's College of Social Studies, and an M.B.A. from the University of Rhode Island.
