Ms. Cheng is Partner and General Counsel, Asia in the Ares Legal Department. Prior to joining Ares in 2022, Ms. Cheng was a Managing Director and Head of Legal North Asia at BlackRock, where she led the legal team in the buildout of BlackRock's China business, including obtaining licenses for a public fund management company and a wealth management company. Previously, Ms. Cheng was Managing Director and Head of Asia ex Japan Fixed Income Legal at JPMorgan Chase, where she was closely involved in a number of strategic initiatives, including acting as project manager for JPMorgan Chase' license application to establish a securities company in China. In addition, Ms. Cheng was an Executive Director and Senior Counsel in the APAC Legal Department at Goldman Sachs, where she focused on Asia ex Japan fixed income matters. Ms. Cheng began her career at Clifford Chance as an Associate. Ms. Cheng holds an L.L.B. (Hons) from The University of Birmingham, UK and an L.L.M. (Hons) from the University of London King's College.
