Rachel Lao

Ms. Lao is a Managing Director in the Ares Legal Department. Prior to joining Ares in 2020, Ms. Lao was a Managing Director and Associate General Counsel at SSG Group (now Ares Asia) in Hong Kong, where she was a Deal Counsel and Advisor on private credit and special situations investments in APAC. Previously, Ms. Lao was a Senior Associate in the Business Restructuring and Insolvency Department at Hogan Lovells, where she focused on special situations investing and cross-border debt restructuring, representing primarily financial creditors, distressed companies and turnaround professionals. Ms. Lao holds an L.L.B. from King's College London in Law. She is admitted to practice law in Hong Kong, and England and Wales.
